Overseas Internship and Visiting Research (oVIR) Program

OIVR Program is a mentorship program under the SSMAF designed to guide and help AMU students in securing internships and visiting research positions across the globe. We came across hundreds of fully funded positions for overseas summer internships and visiting research positions for UG, Masters, and currently enrolled Ph.D. students. However, such opportunities are highly competitive and challenging as compared to MS/Ph.D. admissions. Therefore, we decided to open the applications for the above-mentioned students to guide and help them in grabbing such opportunities.

 
The overseas opportunities aspire researchers and students to gain international exposure and engage in collaborative research projects and internships. By doing so, they will not only enhance their academic and research capabilities but also develop invaluable cross-cultural competencies and build a global network of peers and mentors. The available positions cover a range of academic disciplines, including engineering, social sciences, medicine, humanities, etc. OIVR Program assists students from diversified fields to find relevant and exciting opportunities aligned with their interests and career goals. This program strives to provide a multitude of options to cater to the diverse academic pursuits of our applicants.

Eligibility Criteria

For Undergraduate and Master Programs: 

  • Currently enrolled in AMU or an Alumnus
  • Applicants must be currently enrolled in the 5th or 7th semester of an undergraduate Program.

 OR

1st or 3rd semester of a master program.

  • All applicants are required to have completed at least one internship in India preferably in the premium institutes like IIT, NIT, IISc, IISER, IIIT etc.

For Ph.D. Program: 

  • Applicants must be atleast in 3rd year of their academic program.
  • Having a minimum of one publication with DOI.

Timeline:

18 August–5 September 2023, 23:59:59 (IST).

Benefits and Validity

The number of awardees is dependent upon the availability of mentors and applicant’s commitment towards abroad internship or research.. 

Specific benefits of the program are following:

  • Waived for SSMAF-application (if eligible)
  • Personalized Mentorship (1-on-1 Mentorship)
    • Quality Review of critical documents such as CV, Proposal, SOP etc.
    • Profile specific University/Professor/Lab selection.
    • Personalized Admission and Visa Guidance

Benefits Duration: The fellowship benefits will be applicable to the eligible recipient for a period of approximately 1 year starting from the date of the announcement of results.

Application Procedure

Complete the online application form before the deadline. Upload the required documents, such as CV, Transcripts, and other relevant certificates, and answer a few essay-type questions. The application will be reviewed and evaluated. Based on the application and document screening, qualified applicants will be invited for an online interview with the OIVR-Program selection committee. The interview will assess their proficiency in English, technical knowledge, research experience, and motivation for securing overseas opportunities.

The committee will make the final decision for OIVR-Program selection, considering multiple factors. These include the screening and evaluation of the submitted documents and application, as well as the performance of the candidate during the interview. The committee will carefully consider all these elements before reaching a conclusion on the applicant’s acceptance into the program.
